As it would be much easier for me to share the materials through various media I changed my PBWorks workspace access to public. It’s a place where I gather all University related info, files and projects.
You can access the workspace at:

Any feedback highly appreciated.

To Do

12/12/2009

Got the Boot Camp Windows XP system for audio programming/recording, got a Mac OS X for graphic design and daily tasks and got a Win XP via Parallels for games. Time to get some Linux on-board again. If only I will have enough time in the Christmas break:

http://wiki.onmac.net/index.php/Triple_Boot_via_BootCamp

I’ll post some screenshots as soon I’ll get it running on my MBP.

To disable the Dashboard in Mac OS X type in the Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES
And:
killall Dock

To reverse these operations:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO

And:
killall Dock

I never felt so good with managing fonts. Font Book and Font Doctor X are just outstanding!

I’ve decided to sort out the things a little bit. First of all, I’m going all in English. Sorry if you see any mistakes, I’d be thankful for correcting me. Just let me know if you see something that drives you crazy ;-)

Second thing is I’ve disabled all my other blogs. From now I’ll post only here. As I’m taking a lot of busy modules this semester I feel the need to store some informations and indicate my progress. Most of my materials I’m doing for the courses are available at:

http://www.wosem.pbworks.com/ (restricted access, you can join the workspace)

Third I can’t remember all the things I’m doing and the ways I am following to achieve some techy-geeky solutions. That’s why I need a space to post some techy things.

Fourth – time to work. Have a good day!

My Brief History was found rather good, ranked so fat 2 points of 3, I need to think what do I need to improve to hit the 3. Mindmap needs to be improved in visual way and I need to add the clouds for specific works connecting with my interest. Maureen came with an idea of Polish Londoners Second Life community (shopping, learning). I will make a research in it. She suggested me trying to find a niche in the business because there are huge possibilities of obtaining a support while working on such project at the Uni.

I was adviced to sent my CV as she’s the links to the Wow Agency. She also provided me an email of Alan Hudson, the Second Life specialist at the Uni ;-)

Things to do:

Personal

  • CV
  • glossary
  • thinking strategies
  • library quiz and referencing
  • referencing

Team (report)

  • E-Blogging and Facebook experience
  • Introduction, conclusion and references

After writing the essay if I will have time the good thing should be contact someone from LondonMet Writing Centre to check and help me improve my report.

Week 9

25/11/2008

Week 8 lecture was a continuation of Library lessons and works, which I found quite useful (e-books!) but a little bit boring. I also didn’t liked the fact the lab access was restricted to 15 users and I couldn’t follow in the same time as lucky others ;)

Last week I couldn’t find time to make the Uni-related stuff and things are not better in this due to the deadline of CAD project. I did ipmovement of my Brief History, Mindmap and I made a mind map of things to do for the Study Skills module.

Field trip to Saatchi Gallery.Duke of York’s HQ, Chelsea
The Gallery building has a military past.
We were waiting for a moment to opening and finally got inside. I didn’t picked up the guide to make my trip more personal, it was a good idea.

Gal-1
Liu Wei Love it! Bite it!
2005-2007- Editable dog chews

City build of natural, paper-like material. Mixed architecture styles of modern city combined into artistic vision through inacurate shapes with perfect proportions and scale.
I was very surprised when I realised what kind of material was used, it gave the pop-cultural meaning, brilliant!

Li Songsong The Decameron
Oil on canvas

Darkly expressed oil painting showing governing party. Items are black, people are coloured war-green, painting is not detailed, made of wide brushes, highly expressive. People look like a gray-to-green mass.

Ling Songsong Cuban Sugar
Oil on canvas

Painting shows the people on a banquet, they suppose to be some kind of VIP’s set by circular table. Painting is divided by 3D, varied in colours rectangles (made from varied materials).
Expression of variety but with the same colout-pallete. Dark colours, makes me feel rather sad.

Gal-2
Zhang Huan Ash Head No.1

Sculpture of varied materials and dust. Reminds me the Chinese demolished buildings while building the Three Gorges Dam (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Gorges_Dam).
Head has closed eyes and no mouth. It is a symbolic meaning of the Chinese working class society for me. Sculpture is rough, same like feelings while watching.
My note: You can create people, you can create society through the power of terror. Don’t think, don’t look, don’t talk.

Li Songsong Gift

White, gray, black oil painting showing the group of people carrying an aeroplane. Attractive, joyful – but worthless. Yet another carrot on the rod. Piece of nothing cheering people.

Zhang Huan Seeds

Incence ash, charocoal and resin on canvas. Picture of workers. No one is focused about anything besides the work. No individuality, people are just working shapes. Materials and colours are building the atmosphere of nothingness. It’s astonishing.

Zhang Huan Young Mother
Incence ash on linen

Picture of a young woman (girl) sitting half-naked on the single chair by the table. Symbolism of mothership is achieved by the track of milk from the breasts (made of the dust). It forms a strange shape. One of the most remorable picture of the exhibiotion for me.

Zeng Fanzhi Hospital Series

Meat-like, bleeding characters. Brings me bad memories and thoughs from my cancer-fight.

Zhang Xiaogang Untitled and Untitled
Oil on canvas

Portrait of a boy. Simplified and naive form with shaping characteristic to soc-real propaganda art. Portrait is smudged and lighted softly which gives the effect of blur in the meaning of feelings. Great colours. Use of the pink on the face gives the painting a littre air and makes it a little more abstractive.

-”-Zhang Xiaogang Big Family
Oil on canvas

The red boy has a red blood-line from his heart to mother and sister. The red filling of the character stands for affiliation to socialistic party.
Similar meanings are also shown on the works: Bloodline and My Dream: Little General shown below:

All my other personal notes are available off-line.
